Who We Are
In the 2026 election cycle, a wave of progressive organizing took place across Iowa. Candidates ran on progressive values at every level. Through it all, one problem became clear:
Progressive candidates need more money.
When you combine the right message with enough money to get the word out, you win. Progressive candidates reject the kind of funding that keeps the establishment dominant: the corporations and the billionaires and the celebrity-studded special interest fundraisers.
Good!
They still need money, though. We will not win if we view fundraising as a per-campaign effort. We need to be building the infrastructure in between election cycles too. That work is well underway in areas of advocacy, voter education, and volunteer and voter mobilization. We need it in fundraising, too.
JJ Johnson, an organizer from Kalona, IA, started People’s Iowa PAC to raise money for progressive Iowa candidates for Congress before, during, and after election season.
People’s Iowa PAC exists to make sure candidates who challenge the establishment can start strong and win decisively.
Meet the Team
Endorsement decisions are made by the People’s Iowa PAC Board, a five-member team made up of passionate progressive leaders from across Iowa.
JJ is a political organizer in SE Iowa with experience in federal campaign communications, fighting fascist policy coming out of Des Moines, and generally raising hell at a local level.
